Class AA Boys
100 Meter Dash
As expected, Chapmanville's David Wiley powered away from the field to win by 0.12. Oak Glen's
Derek Burch was an easy 2nd. The next four finishers were with 0.10 of each other. Wiley
clocked a 10.98 in the trials, which is good enough to tie for the 7th Best Class A-AA State Meet
Performance and tie for the 3rd Best Class AA State Meet Performance this Decade.
RunWV's Current Score: 6 of 6.
200 Meter Dash
Tyler Consolidated's Nate Taylor came through with the win in 22.79. Sherman's Jacob Rollo
was the only other runner to go under 23 seconds. Keyser to 3rd and 4th to make this a big event for
them.
RunWV's Current Score: 11 of 12.
400 Meter Dash
Oak Glen's Derek Burch got out well, had established a lead by the 200 meter mark, and pulled
further away down the stretch. His 49.49 won by nearly 1.5 seconds and ranks as the 6th Best Class
A-AA State Meet Performance and the Best Class AA State Meet Performance this Decade.
Tyler Consolidated's Nate Taylor and Ravenswood's Cole Starcher were the only other ones
to go under 51 seconds.
RunWV's Current Score: 15 of 18.
800 Meter Run
A year after five runners cracked the 2:00 barrier, none did. Ravenswood's Nathan Rees was the
only one under 2:01 as he took the win by nearly a second. Keyser got a huge 2nd place run from
Taven Rohrbaugh as he led three runners through under 2:02. Oak Glen's Griff Halstead
held off Ravenswood's Alex Cole for 3rd. Scott's Chase Nelson finished 5th, and
Matt Knowlton gave Ravenswood three placers in the event. Two of my predicted placers did not
run the event.
RunWV's Current Score: 18 of 24.
1600 Meter Run
Ravenswood's Nathan Rees and Berkeley Springs' Lenny Roach took the field out in 66 along
with PikeView's Brent Roark. Webster's Skyler McCoy, Ravenswood's Alex Cole and
Scott's Chase Nelson were just behind in 67. There was still a pack aster two laps with Rees
and Roark crossing in 2:17. Lap 3 finally generated some separation, and McCoy took the lead right
at the end of the lap, crossing in 3:25. Rees was right behind in 3:26. Cole had moved into 3rd in
3:29 with Nelson and Roach crossing in 3:30. Rees again proved to have the more powerful kick as he
closed in 62 to take the win by nearly 2 seconds in being the only sub-4:30 in the group with his
4:28.67. McCoy closed in 65 and clocked a 4:30.83. Nelson got past Cole for 3rd, and Cole edged
out Roach and Philip Barbour's Riley Freeman for 4th. The three were separated by just 0.35
seconds. Roane's Randall Price and Roark also got in under 4:40.
RunWV's Current Score: 23 of 30.
3200 Meter Run
The field went out hard with Ravenswood's Nathan Rees leading the way in 67 and Weir's Ronald
Read in the back in 71. After two laps, Rees was through in 2:19 was followed closely by
Berkeley Springs' Lenny Roach. Rees still led through three laps, crossing in 3:33 with Roach
at 3:34 and Webster's Skyler McCoy and Roane's Randall Price coming through in 3:35.
At the 1600, it was Rees and Price coming through in 4:50 and Roach and McCoy in 4:51. On lap five,
Rees and McCoy started to generate a gap on the field. Rees came through in 6:05 with McCoy in 6;06.
Price came through in 6:07 with Roach in 6:08. Read and the Philip Barbour pair of Riley Freeman
and John King crossed in 6:16. After six laps, Rees and McCoy were together at 7:25 as the
pace slowed. Price came through in 7:29 and Roach in 7:30. PikeView's Jordan Weitzel crossed
in 7:34, with Read in 7:37 and Freeman in 7:38. Rees and McCoy started to pick the pace back up on
lap 7, crossing in 8:41. Price was still holding 3rd, two seconds ahead of Roach. Weitzel was just
a second ahead of Read, and they were four seconds ahead of Freeman and Berkeley Springs' Cory
Yarrington. The last lap showed the great kick and turnover of Rees as he broke out a 62 second
closing lap. Mccoy also showed great kick with his 64 second close. Price held his 3rd spot, and
Roach held off Read and Weitzel for 4th. Only Rees and McCoy went under 10:00 with their 9:43.78
and 9:45.18, respectively.
RunWV's Current Score: 27 of 36.

Tyler Consolidated's Cullen Grover overpowered the field and crushed the 15 second barrier with
his 14.80, a time good enough to give him the 5th Best Class AA State Meet Performance this Decade.
Keyser's Jeremy Green scored an easy 2nd place with Weir's Marty Zangus an easy 3rd. 5th
through 7th were separated by just 0.03.
RunWV's Current Score: 33 of 42.

from Wesley Washington to take 3rd.
RunWV's Current Score: 38 of 48.
4x100 Meter Relay
Keyser knocked off favorite Oak Glen and clocked the only sub-44 time in the group. Their 43.95 gave
the group of Taige Redman, Jeremy Green, Jarell Ross, and Kadeem Garland a tie for the 10th
Best Class A-AA State Meet Performance and a tie for the 3rd Best Class AA State Meet Performance
this Decade. Oak Glen and Chapmanville came in well under 45 seconds to take 2nd and 3rd.

leg. Their 1:29.93 gave the group of Taige Regman, Jeremy Green, Jarell Ross, and Matthew Wilmer
the Best Class A-AA State Meet Performance and the Best Class AA State Meet Performance this
Decade. Oak Glen, despite pulling up and hobbling to the finish after being passed was over 3
seconds ahead of 3rd place Ritchie. In fact, their 1:31.88 gave the foursome of Ethan Smith, Derek
Burch, Jacob Porter, and Drake Compton the 6th Best Class AA State Meet Performance this
Decade.
RunWV's Current Score: 47 of 60.
4x400 Meter Relay
Keyser won yet another relay by taking the 4x400 by nearly 2 seconds. They clocked a 3:29.71 to give
the foursome of Taige Redman, Kaison Rohrbaugh, Jarell Ross, and Wesley Washington the 4th

relinquish. Philip Barbour got a 1:59 anchor leg from John King to pull into 2nd. Keyser was
solidly 3rd.
RunWV's Current Score: 57 of 72.
Shuttle Hurdle Relay
Keyser won the shuttles, too. That's right...they won four out of the five relays. This is the one
that they were expected to win, and they did so in grand fashion, clocking a stellar 56.41. The unit
of Jeremy Green, Matthew Wilmer, Kaison Rohrbaugh, and Jarell Ross scored the Best Class
A-AA State Meet Performance and the Best Class AA State Meet Performance this Decade.
Tyler Consolidated's group of Nathaniel Zills, Isaac Graham, Troy Wable, and Cullen Grover
clocked a 58.13, which was good enough to give them the 6th Best Class AA State Meet Performance
this Decade.
RunWV's Current Score: 62 of 78.
Long Jump
Oak Glen's Matt Ritchie sailed nearly a foot and a half past the rest of the field with his
21'8 jump. That jump was good enough to give him the 5th Best Class AA State Meet Performance
this Decade. Keyser got another big score from Wesley Washington when his 20'3.75 was
good enough for 2nd place. Point Pleasant's Steven Perry also surpassed 20'.
RunWV's Current Score: 65 of 84.
High Jump
James Monroe's Tyler Franklin was the only jumper to clear 6'2. Three others cleared 6'0. If
you cleared the opening height of 5'10, you placed.
RunWV's Current Score: 70 of 90.
Shot Put
The consistency of Ritchie's Mark Britton paid off with a 4 inch win. His 47'3 was the only
toss over 47'. Lincoln's Parker Osborne just missed the 47' mark with his 46'11 toss. Scott's
Ryan Price also topped 46' in taking 3rd.
RunWV's Current Score: 73 of 96.
Discus
Ritchie's Mark Britton may have won the Shot Put, but it's in the Discus where he really shines.
After taking 2nd last year, the Sophomore launched the Discus 167'10 to win by over 33 feet. That toss
gave him the 4th Best Class A-AA State Meet Performance and the 4th Best Class AA State Meet
Performance this Decade. No one else topped 135'.
RunWV's Current Score: 78 of 102.
Pole Vault
Ritchie's Cody Masters cleared 13'0 and was the only vaulter to go higher than 11'6, and only
three vaulters even cleared 11'0. It only took 10'0 to place.
RunWV's Current Score: 83 of 108.
The final score of 83 of 108 means that 76.9% of the people picked to place did indeed place. Congratulations to those that proved me wrong.
